Your coat’s in my car [I guess you forgot it]. I have a few coats in my car right now only because the temperature varies by 20 degrees every day. We put our coats or jackets on to leave the house and toss them in the backseat while we are out. Once home it is so warm outside I don’t even think to bring them into the house [until the next morning when it is icy cold again].
But of course this song is not about a sunny winter day. It is about letting things go that seem so necessary but are easily forgotten. A coat, an appointment, a promise. Ouch.
I wonder if other animals, maybe birds, are like “you said you would be there. I waited for two hours.”
