Day 3 – And why wouldn’t she? We took our art supplies to a coffee shop and met Patsy. She had a new sketch kit (paper and all of the pencils) to try. It was a lovely evening to sit outside and I’m glad that we let the sun hit our backs. It was warm (well above average) for a Missouri February afternoon. Everything is fine. It’s fine.
Patsy always tells us the most detailed stories. They vary in time, place and character and you cannot guess the ending. Zoe and I laugh out loud one moment and sympathize with Patsy the next. She trails off and then wonders out loud “Now why was I telling you that?”
I draw the layers to our hours of conversation and find that even though the page is clearly divided from the beginning it feels cohesive at the end.
The dots and dashes are always last. A bit of code. Excitement builds as I see what those inconsequential marks do – always revealing the shadows and shapes and mingling colors beneath.
